This year, Food Lover’s Market has entered 39 teams, with an additional five FreshStop team entries – resulting in 88 passionate MTB enthusiasts representing Food Lover’s Market over the two-day FNB Wines2Whales Race event. While some are racing to improve on their previous races, others are racing purely for the ‘gees’.

We spoke to some of our team members to understand their training and eating regime as they prepare. While Mike Coppin – Co-Founder of Food Lover’s Market – spends between eight to ten hours in the saddle, at this pre-race stage, Dion Milson – Food Lover’s Market Director – spends approximately seven hours on his bike per week, kicks off each day with a protein shake and follows a strict vegetarian diet for the rest of the day.

When asked about his hours in the saddle, Barry Parker – Managing Director of Seattle – said that he spends anytime between zero and eight hours on his bike per week. “I ride when I feel like it. As for my diet, when I see food, I eat it. Let’s just say I have a healthy appetite.”
