Committed to helping in the fight against hunger, Food Lover’s Market has been supporting FoodForward SA for several years.

FoodForward SA, formally known as FoodBank SA, connects a world of excess to a world of need. Started in 2009, the non-profit organisation was established on the premise that there is a significant amount of food waste that can be harnessed to address the problem of food insecurity in our country where 14 million people go hungry every day.

Food Lover’s Market supports the organisation’s mission to safely and cost effectively secure quality food for the hungry and therefore not only provides FoodForward SA with financial assistance but also regularly donates tons of surplus fresh produce, which is redistributed to 600 registered beneficiary organisations that in turn feed 250 000 people daily in communities across South Africa.

“We believe that it’s not just about providing value for money for our customers, but also about sharing our values, one of which is to give back to those who need it most. It’s such a privilege to be in a position to be of some assistance to an organisation that works to feed hungry orphans, the sick and elderly, abused women and those suffering from HIV/Aids”, said Andrew Milson at Food Lover’s Market.

In an effort to further support FoodForward SA, Food Lover’s Market recently launched our ‘Bag for Life’ campaign. Shoppers are encouraged to purchase an environmentally friendly bag and for each one sold, Food Lover’s Market will donate R1 to the cause. It’s a simple way in which customers can get involved and help feed a hungry tummy.
