Upington Covid-19 News

12th Nov 2020

12 November 2020 – A team member, who works in the Butchery department at Food Lover’s Market Upington, has tested positive for Covid-19. He was last in the store on Thursday, 05 November 2020 – seven days ago. This team member had himself tested as he was a close contact of a family member who tested positive for Covid-19. He consequently had himself tested on Friday, 06 November 2020 and we were formally advised of the positive test result today.

All team members that were in close contact with this colleague have been identified and have been instructed to self-quarantine for the remaining period of the 10-days since last contact with their colleague. They are being monitored for symptoms of COVID-19 and will only return to the store once we are satisfied that they have not contracted the virus.

A professional cleaning company conducted a deep clean and sanitisation of the store on Sunday, 08 November 2020 – after our colleague was tested for Covid-19. All colleagues have been screened throughout this period and have not displayed any symptoms in the time since the affected team member was last in the store.

We wish our affected colleague well and look forward to welcoming him, and the rest of the team, back to the store.

We will continue our practice of screening our team members on arrival at work daily and during the day, as well as following all hygiene protocols – including sanitising hands and surfaces, practicing social distancing and wearing masks.

As we have taken the necessary precautions to keep our team and customers safe, the Food Lover’s Market Upington store is open and we welcome you back to our store for your next shop.
