We strive to be an integral part of the communities we serve, making a positive difference through our Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives and local supplier development programs. Our commitment extends beyond offering the Best in Fresh; we are dedicated to helping communities thrive.
Supporting Community Growth
As part of our mission to be the best store in every community we serve, we champion community involvement through various CSI initiatives and local supplier development programs. Our goal is to contribute to the well-being and development of the communities in which we operate.
Addressing Food Insecurity
Food security is a critical issue in many impoverished communities, and Food Lover’s Market is committed to making a difference. Through our partnership with FoodForward SA, we recover quality surplus food from the supply chain and distribute it to community organisations serving those in need. Since our inception, we have donated R480,000 annually to FoodForward SA, in addition to our contributions during World Hunger Month.
Supporting Child-Centric Organisations
We partner with organisations like Sporting Chance, which focuses on organising sporting programmes and events to bring about social change and life skills education in disadvantaged communities. Additionally, through our store-led relationships, each Food Lover’s Market store supports a child-centric Beneficiary Organisation (BO) in its immediate community through feeding schemes and donations.
World Hunger Month Campaign
Every year, Food Lover’s Market runs an in-store World Hunger Month campaign in partnership with FoodForward SA to raise awareness and funds for meals for the hungry. In 2022, our campaign raised over 2.5 million meals, totalling R1,710,338 in donations to FoodForward SA.
Local Community Support
Our commitment to community extends to supporting local organisations like the Jakaranda Children’s Home and Louis Botha Children’s Home in Pretoria, as well as the Westlake United Church Trust in Cape Town. Through donations of fresh produce, groceries, and vouchers, we assist these organisations in providing essential services to vulnerable children and families.
