On 23 March, Lord’s Taverners South Africa, together with Sporting Chance, an organisation that FLM supports, hosted the inaugural Table Cricket Festival at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town. Table Cricket is an adapted version of cricket, played on a table tennis table and specially designed to enhance inclusivity and give people with a disability the chance to play and compete in the sport we all love.
This momentous occasion saw children from six special needs schools across Cape Town come together and share in the joy, excitement and camaraderie that is the game of Table Cricket.
FLM helped make the festival extra special for all those involved by providing all the refreshments, including fruit, juices and snacks for the day.
With the festival exceeding all expectations, Sporting Chance’s long-term vision of creating a festival and seeing schools compete against one another has turned into a reality.
Kate Marais, FLM’s CSI Manager says, “As a child and community-centric business and long-time partner of Sporting Change, we are incredibly proud to be a part of their ongoing journey in bringing enjoyment of sport; firstly, to children in vulnerable communities and now to differently abled youth.”
