Festive Cherry and Fizz
2 serving glasses
6 Food Lover’s Cheeky Cherries
500 ml (2 cups) Food Lover’s lemon and lime flavoured soft drink
1 fresh lime
Fresh mint leaves, to garnish
Cheeky Cherry Sauce
600 g Food Lover’s Cheeky Cherries
60 ml (¼ cup) Food Lover’s white sugar
60 ml ( ¼ cup) water
15 ml (1 Tbsp) cornstarch
Pinch of salt
Festive Cherry and Fizz
Place 3 cherries at the base of each glass.
Fill them with about 50-60ml of water to just cover the cherries.
Place into the freezer to freeze until solid. Overnight is best.
When you are ready to serve, pour in the lemonade, squeeze in some fresh lime, add a sprig of mint into each glass and enjoy.
Cheeky Cherry Sauce
To prepare the sauce, remove any pips and stems from the cherries, cutting them in half.
Dissolve the cornstarch in a bit of water.
In a sauce pot, add the cherries, sugar and water and allow to cook for 10-12 minutes.
Add the dissolved cornstarch and allow the sauce to thicken.
Once thickened, it needs to coat the back of a spoon, stir in the pinch of salt.
Allow to cool before using it as a topping for ice cream, cheese or even to serve with festive roasts.
