What is the 10th Hunger Month campaign?
2026 marks the 10th year of Hunger Month, Food Lover’s Market’s annual commitment to help fight hunger and help change lives in South African communities.
Over the past decade, Hunger Month has grown into a movement that brings together customers, suppliers, partners and colleagues to make a meaningful difference. Together, so far we have already helped provide more than 21.5 million meals to people facing hunger.
This year, we are working towards our most ambitious goal yet, donating 10 million meals in a single month. Small acts can make a big difference. When we work together with purpose, we can create lasting impact.
The Relationship Between Food Lover’s Market and Food Forward SA
Our long-standing partnership with FoodForwardSA plays a vital role in helping us deliver on our purpose of Changing Lives.
FoodForward A is one of South Africa’s leading food redistribution organisations. Through their established national network, quality surplus food is recovered from farmers, manufacturers and retailers, and redistributed to verified beneficiary organisations across the country. This efficient system ensures that good food does not go to waste, but instead reaches communities where it is needed most.
Together with FoodForward SA, Food Lover’s Market is able to support thousands of beneficiary organisations that provide meals to vulnerable families, children and individuals facing food insecurity.
By working together, we are able to extend the reach of Hunger Month and help create meaningful change in communities across South Africa.

For the past 10 years, Hunger Month has been a reflection of what can be achieved when people come together with a shared purpose to help change lives.
At Food Lover’s Market, we believe that access to good food is fundamental to dignity, wellbeing and opportunity. Hunger Month allows us to work alongside our customers, suppliers and partners to support communities facing food insecurity in a practical and meaningful way.
Reaching this 10 year milestone is something we are incredibly proud of, but it is also a reminder that there is still more work to be done.
Our goal of donating 10 million meals this year is ambitious, but we know that when many people contribute in small ways, real impact becomes possible.

How it Works
Through our partnership with FoodForward SA, just 47 cents helps provide a meal.
FoodForward SA operates a smart food recovery system that connects quality surplus food from farmers, manufacturers and retailers with a national network of beneficiary organisations.
Donations help fund the logistics required to collect, store and distribute this food safely and efficiently. Because the food itself is donated, each small contribution goes a long way in helping provide meals to people who need them most.
47 cents may seem small, but when many people contribute, it creates meaningful change.
