The Thandanani Children’s Drop Inn Centre, situated in the heart of Mamelodi, provides a place of safety and nourishment, both physically and emotionally, for 150 children. Food Lover’s Market Menlyn Mall is a proud partner in the centre.
The centre, whose name means “love one another”, was founded by cousins, Thabo Kgotsi and Victor Tswayi. They wanted to provide a safe space for the Mamelodi children to do their homework and not be tempted by the dangers of the streets, such as gangsterism and drugs. The Food Lovers Market in Menlyn Mall provides the children with fresh produce to ensure that optimum growth and learning can take place.
Mark Marshall, manager of Food Lover’s Market Menlyn, and HR administrator Suzan, visited the drop inn centre to see for themselves the impact of the donation. They were so impressed by the work being done by Thabo and Victor, that Thabo was invited to speak at the store to the various managers. There, he impressed upon the Food Lover’s Market team the importance of the community involvement and the relief it brings.
