Black Mamba Chilli Sauces – Great taste, No added nonsense

Black Mamba is a fair trade producer of gourmet products, based in the African Kingdom of Eswatini, that manufactures a range of chilli sauces, pestos, pickles, chutneys and jams, all made with natural, fresh ingredients, and no “added nonsense” (no artificial flavours, colourants or preservatives). “We are passionate about making dangerously tasty food that is good for you, good for the planet,
and good for the communities we work with.”

Black Mamba works in partnership with a local NGO called Guba, whose mission is to improve the livelihood of communities in Eswatini through the use of permaculture and regenerative farming practices. Black Mamba and Guba have a symbiotic relationship where Guba develops the farmers and their farming skills, and Black Mamba provides the marketplace for the Guba-trained farmers to sell their organically grown produce. To date, Black Mamba provides a sustainable income to 60 farmers, mostly women, that are part of this initiative. Over 1000 individuals are directly impacted as each farmer has in average 6 dependents and shares their knowledge with 11 members of their community. Black Mamba contributes also to sustainability by using packaging that is biodegradable (cardboard boxes) or widely and easily recycled (glass bottles).

Black Mamba was started by Claudia Castellanos -a Colombian that came as a volunteer to Eswatini and fell in love with Africa and made it her home- and her liSwati husband Joe Roques: they both share their love for chillies and food with the passion for the development of communities and sustainable farming.

From the beginning, when they were stirring a pot of chilli sauce in the back of their kitchen, Claudia and Joe were determined to make a high quality, distinctively delicious product with a 100% sustainable value chain that would benefit those involved and the environment. Fast forward 10 years, and Black Mamba is successfully exporting its delicious range to countries such as the UK (where several of their chilli sauces have won Great Taste Awards -considered the British “Oscars” for food and drinks), the US, Germany, Norway and Taiwan. And now a curated selection of their Dangerously Tasty & Spicy chilli sauces and pestos have slithered its way to Food Lovers Market in South Africa, promising to delight Chilliheads and Ethical Foodies alike!

With the support of Food Lover’s Market, Black Mamba envisions establishing itself as a cult brand locally, and to continue growing its footprint and positive impact in Africa and overseas, connecting chilli heads and ethical foodies across the world to a generation of growers, providing proof that planet and people matter.

Tasty tips: Pair it with pasta for a simple and delicious meal, use it to give curries a gourmet finishing touch as a side dish, or mix it with lemon juice for a mouth-watering salad dressing.

Tasty tips:  Mix it with cream cheese for a fiery and scrumptious dip. Use it as a deliciously hot marinade or on a sandwich for extra zing. Add it into curries, stir fries and pasta sauces for an explosion of heat and flavour
