3.4 Million Meals Raised in this Year’s World Hunger Month Campaign – Competition Winners Announced!

We’ve officially wrapped up our annual World Hunger Month campaign, and the results are in. Through the generous contributions of our buyers, loyal suppliers, and our incredible customers, we are thrilled to announce that this year’s FLM’s World Hunger Month campaign in partnership with FoodForwardSA, was our most successful one to date!!!

Having collected a total of 2,515,203 meals during last year’s World Hunger Month campaign, this year we planned on raising even more, with Food Lover’s matching the total donations made on World Hunger Day!

Exceeding our target of raising 3 million, this year we managed to raise a record number of 3.4 million meals! Of this, 2,717,752,011 meals were donated by FLM and our fresh and grocery partners, and 682,248 meals were donated by FLM customers. An official cheque handover of the proceeds collected this year for FoodForwardSA will take place on 20 July. Through our annual World Hunger Month campaign over the past seven years, FLM has donated close to 10 million (9,590,063) meals to long-term partner and beneficiary, FoodForward SA who feed 985,000 people daily through their 2,750 beneficiary organisations.

Congratulations to FLM Boksburg who raised a total of 149,043 meals and secured 1st place in our competition amongst stores to see who could collect the most meals during World Hunger Month. Hats off to FLM Paarl who came in 2nd place! They collected enough for 60,364 meals. Both stores secured a total monetary contribution of R25,000 to put towards community events with their official CSI beneficiaries. Watch this space as we will be sharing more about their community events and chosen CSI beneficiaries.

The competition between FLM Parklands and FLM George was close, but after raising 32,576 meals, FLM Parklands took 3rd place, winning R5,000 which they put towards hosting a breakfast for their official CSI beneficiary, Nyakallo Educare Center, a safehouse and preschool in Dunoon, run by Elizabeth Malope. FLM Parklands transported and treated Elizabeth and the little ones of Nyakallo Educare Center to an FLM breakfast. To help support the local organisation’s feeding scheme, FLM Parklands also gifted Nyakallo with FLM food vouchers.

WELL DONE and THANK YOU to all our colleagues and partners who contributed towards the success of this year’s campaign.
