Food Lover’s Market Empowers Small Businesses in SA

FLM Is Developing Small Businesses in South Africa

By nurturing social and environmental entrepreneurship, FLM is assisting small businesses to develop. In South Africa’s entrepreneurial landscape, small businesses are the lifeblood that drives economic growth and social change. We understand the interconnectedness of businesses, communities, and environmental sustainability. As a leading retailer founded by entrepreneurial visionaries, we are committed to fostering an ecosystem where aspiring social and environmental entrepreneurs can thrive and make a meaningful impact in their communities.

Activating Health Through Wazoogles Superfood

One remarkable example of our commitment to supporting small businesses is our partnership with Wazoogles Superfood. Originating from humble beginnings at the Oranjezicht City Farmers Market, Wazoogles has blossomed into a powerhouse in the health food space. Their Superfood Protein Smoothie Blends, Supernatural Oat Pots, and Dark Roast Peanut Butter not only offer premium health benefits but also embody a deep connection to the communities they serve.

Through initiatives like the Baobab Project, Wazoogles empowers local communities in Limpopo, supporting women in harvesting baobab fruits and reinvesting in community development. Additionally, they contribute to a crèche that provides essential services to underprivileged children, exemplifying their commitment to social responsibility.

Warren Goodman, Founder and CEO of Wazoogles Superfood, highlights the transformative impact of partnering with Food Lover’s Market, enabling them to reach a wider audience and fulfil their mission of accessible healthy food for all.

Seeds of Change Empowers Socially and Environmentally Conscious Suppliers

The Seeds of Change Supplier Development Partnership, launched in collaboration with the Social Enterprise Academy, is a testament to our dedication to nurturing small businesses with a focus on social or environmental impact. Through this initiative, we aim to empower suppliers who share our values and are dedicated to delivering quality products while driving positive change.

From over a thousand applications, we’ve identified and supported ten finalists each year, providing them with invaluable mentorship and resources to navigate the retail landscape. Setšong African Tea Crafters, the 2022 winner, exemplifies the spirit of social entrepreneurship, creating jobs in rural communities and preserving indigenous knowledge through their herbal tea products.
