Boerewors Rolls With Caramelised Onions and Roasted Balsamic Cherry Tomatoes

Nothing says South African more than boerewors rolls. Whether enjoyed, simply served with a splash of tomato sauce, or packed full of gourmet ingredients, they are a staple in most of our homes, on most weekends. Here we have taken the traditional tomato and onion relish, deconstructed it and given each ingredient a lot more flavour.

Boerewors

700 g Food Lovers Market Super Rugby boerewors
6 fresh hot dog rolls
1 tbsp feta cheese crumbled

Caramelized Onions

3 large onions, halved and finely sliced
1 garlic clove crushed
1 1/2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp butter
1/2 tbsp fresh thyme leaves

Balsamic Cherry Tomatoes

500 g cherry tomatoes halved
1 clove garlic crushed
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 tbsp balsamic reduction
1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
Freshly ground salt and pepper
