Ingredients
For the Unicorn Popcorn:
250ml (1 cup) granulated white sugar
60ml (1/4 cup) water
15ml (1 Tbsp) butter
Food colouring of your choice
1 pack plain microwave popcorn or 8 cups popcorn, popped
6-8 marshmallows, chopped
250ml (1 cup) Cadbury Nuggles – we used Fudge, Raisin & Shortbread
60ml (1/4 cup) sprinkles of your choice
For the Soda Floats:
2l (8 cups) Food Lover’s Carbonated Soft Drink of your choice
2l ice cream of your choice
125ml (1/2 cup) maraschino cherries
30ml (2 Tbsp) sprinkles of your choice
Directions
For the Unicorn Popcorn:
Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
Once the sugar is dissolved, stop stirring and allow to gently boil for about 5 minutes, then add the butter and remove from the heat.
Now you can colour the sugary syrup with your favourite colours.
We divided the sugary syrup into 3 small bowls (be careful not to burn yourself, as sugar becomes extremely hot – ask an adult to help you here) and we used blue, yellow and green food colouring to dye our syrup.
Pour the sugary syrup over the popcorn while it is still warm and mix through.
Now add the marshmallows, Nuggles and sprinkles to your popcorn.
For the Soda Floats:
Pour the soda into your glasses – do not fill them up too much, as they will overflow when you add the ice cream.
Scoop some of the ice cream into the glasses. Top with cherries and sprinkles.
