Molten Banting Burger

Serve with freshly fried Sweet Potato Chips

    2 x Monster Burgers 200g each or 4 x regular Burgers 100g each
    2 x large brown mushrooms
    125 ml (½ cup) grated Clover Tussers Cheese, or similar
    60 ml butter
    10 ml Food Lover’s Market Crushed Garlic
    Carbsmart Smokey BBQ Sauce, for grilling
    Carbsmart 1000 Island Sauce, for topping
    Avocado, sliced


    Melt butter in a pan; add garlic and brown mushrooms. Place lid on pan and allow mushrooms to simmer gently until soft.
    Meanwhile, if you are using 4 regular burgers, divide the cheese in two and place each amount on top of 1 patty, spreading it to cover most of the patty.
    Top with the other uncheesed patty; you will end up with 2 large patties made up of 4 patties, with a cheese filling in each. Alternately, fold a Monster patty round and over the grated cheese, re-shaping it with your hands. Seal all edges by pressing gently.
    Grill the burger as normal, basting with Carbsmart Smokey BBQ Sauce until outside is nicely browned, about 5 minutes a side.
    Remove all items from heat and prepare your starch-free burger as follows
    Place the brown mushroom on a plate or board. Top with the molten cheese patty.
    Add any extras you fancy like red onion rings, greens, gherkin, tomato. Top with sliced avocado.
    Lastly, drizzle generously with Carbsmart 1000 Island sauce. When you cut the patty open, molten cheese will come dripping out.
