Food Lover’s Market launches Goodness Gang ‘healthy eating campaign’ in Western Cape

Share

30 August 2016 – Cape Town, South Africa

The Goodness Gang, the cutest heroes of healthy eating and nutrition, is exclusively available at Western Cape Food Lover’s Market stores as of 29 August 2016. Designed to help mums and dads of Grade RR to Grade 3 learners teach their kids about the benefits of eating their fruit and veg, the Goodness Gang is now available in the form of seven cute soft toys. These brightly coloured fruit and veg characters are available for collection via stickers earned over the course of the six-month campaign – ensuring there’s enough time for families to collect the whole gang.

The characters include Sally Strawberry, Benny Banana, Betty Broccoli, Anna Aubergine, Charlie Carrot, Pamela Pear and Gary Garlic – these cute high-quality plush toys each come with their own message on the benefits of healthy eating.

Introducing the Gang

Leading the Goodness Gang is Sally Strawberry, sweet and tasty and helping the heart beat the way it should, while Benny Banana is packed with vitamins to ensure plenty of energy for learning and playtime. Gary Garlic is full of flavour and good for the heart. Meanwhile, boosting the immune system is Betty Broccoli’s speciality.

Charlie Carrot is the protector of teeth and gums and improves eye-sight and while Anna Aubergine might be a funny purple colour, she is packed full of vitamins to help bones grow big and strong. Finally, there’s Pamela Pear who is juicy, sweet and helps with healing.

How to collect the Goodness Gang

Spend R50 to get 1 sticker and after 70 stickers you will get a free Goodness Gang character of your choice. However, if you can’t wait, you will be eligible to buy a character after collecting 30 stickers for only R59,99 – or you can buy the Goodness Gang characters at the full retail price of R199,99. Stickers must be pasted on the collector cards, which will be available at branded stands in participating Food Lover’s Market’s in the Western Cape.

The campaign runs from August to the end of January 2017, giving parents and kids enough time to shop and collect for their favourite character.

Fun activities in-store and at selected schools in the Western Cape

To reinforce the message of healthy eating and nutrition, the Goodness Gang mascots will be visiting stores and schools in the Western Cape over the next few months.

Selected Western Cape schools will be visited by the Goodness Gang puppet show, while ‘Fresh Cooking with the Goodness Gang’ cooking classes will be held at five selected Food Lover’s Market stores over the school holidays in October. Contact Mo on 082 303 1764 to book your kids into a cooking class or for more information. The cooking classes are R100 per child.
