Rustenburg Community eagerly awaited the opening of the new world-class Food Lover’s Market Cornerstone store on 23 November 2023.

Food Lover’s Market opened its latest store, in Rustenburg, North West province at the Cornerstone Lifestyle Centre.  The team at South Africa’s largest privately owned retailer is ready to offer local shoppers the best store in the community. With an array of fresh food and grocery offerings and a dazzling display of shopping theatre inside, it promises to be a premium shopping experience.

The new jewel in the crown is a 4,428 sqm stand-alone site, with a huge emphasis placed on creating an environment of fresh and sustainable shopping theatre.

The new store offers customers a unique shopping experience, including:

• A bountiful fresh produce section;
• The biggest gourmet butchery in the Food Lover’s Market stable;
• An on-site bakery;
• A fresh seafood department;
• Delicious cheese and deli counters;
• An upmarket wine department;
• Hot foods boasting delicious, prepared foods such as Crispy Chicken, Bubs Fish & Chips and Pie O’My;
• The Fresh Society, Love Health and Health & Happiness dried fruit and nut bar will delight the health-conscious food lover;
• A Grab & Go department with a selection of prepared foods – including Sushi and a Biltong Bar;
• Seattle Coffee Co. for the discerning coffee lover
• A world-class and contemporary liquor outlet, Market Liquors

The new Rustenburg store confirms a 183-strong team procured locally for the new world-class store.

Same Faces, New Places!

The store is managed by Hannes van Heerden, a highly experienced retailer who has been part of the Food Lover’s family for the past 10 years. Locals may know Hannes’ friendly face from Food Lover’s Market Platinum Square. 183 passionate team members support him, with 29 of the team part of the gourmet Butchery section.

The retailer is passionate about delivering an exceptional shopping experience. All team members have received training and support through the “Same Faces Higher Places” programme to prepare them to offer fantastic service at the new store. 

During orientation, all Food Lover’s Market team members completed a Food Lover’s Market Values and Customer Xperience workshop. The team goes through customer service training programmes to prioritise living the Food Lover’s Market values, the importance of customer service, and understanding all the product lines. Fortunately for us, it comes naturally to everyone we’ve hired! Most of the 183 team members are sourced from Rustenberg and surrounds, having been transferred from the Rustenburg and Platinum stores, which have now been closed.
