Lunch and healthy snacks are important, for growing kids. If you want to make wholesome living a priority for your entire family, here are some ideas to #FindYourWellness when it comes to planning and preparing your child’s lunch.
A nutritious wrap
Wraps made from veggies that come in different fun colours can bring joy to your kid’s lunchbox. There are also wraps that cater to various dietary requirements, from low-carb to high-protein.
- Why? They are not just easy to prepare (and eat!) but, when you fill them with some lean protein and colourful vegetables, are also a wholesome meal or snack.
A sourdough sandwich
Instead of a wrap, you could also opt for a sandwich made from our sourdough loaves. Sandwiches are a school food staple and the size of our slices is perfect for fitting in your child’s lunchbox.
- Why? Sourdough bread is a healthier option, as it is known to support good gut health and is more nutritious as well as being more filling and satisfying than many alternatives.
Raw veggies
A great way to ensure your little one gets their five a day is to include some raw vegetables in their lunchbox. Popular options include carrot or cucumber sticks.
- Why? Carrots contain beta-carotene which promotes healthy vision, while cucumbers are over 90% water, so they are great for keeping your little one hydrated.
Fruit salad

- Why? Fruit is naturally sweet but they also contain an array of vitamins. They are also packed with powerful antioxidants, which help to fight off free-radical damage.
Greek yoghurt
Something healthy that can be enjoyed with a fruit salad is some plain Greek yoghurt, or the yoghurts on offer at our pre-cut fruit counter. Add a small drizzle of honey to it for a touch of sweetness and flavour.
- Why? Plain Greek yoghurt doesn’t contain any sugar. What it does contain is protein as well as probiotics , the latter being important for good gut health.
Dried fruit + nuts
Instead of filling your kid’s lunchbox with sugar-laden snacks like sweets and chocolates, give them their sugar fix with a few pieces of dried fruit and nuts from our dispensers.
- Why? Nuts contain protein and are rich in healthy fats and help to promote brain health and dried fruit is a satisfying snack and contains fibre, vitamins and minerals.
Flavoured water
This is something you can make yourself by adding some fruit, such as seasonal berries, to their water bottle. Alternatively, try a chilled herbal tea with a little bit of honey in it.
- Why? Cool drinks and sodas are loaded with sugar, too much of which is bad for your child’s long-term health and can also make it more difficult for them to focus at school.
