Top 4 Braai Tips for Heritage Day 2025

Always braai your Jan Braai Boerewors over very hot coals for 8 minutes and turn once, at most twice. This way it will stay juicy and retain all the flavour of the wors without drying out if you braai it too long.

  1. If you are wondering whether you have enough heat and coals, then the answer is probably no. Always add more wood and make a bigger fire.
  2. Braaibroodjie is a draaibroodjie – use medium heat and turn often.
  3. Braaibroodjie is also your chance in life to butter your bread on both sides! Always butter your braaibroodjies on the outside for the best crisp and toasted braaibroodjies
  4. Braaing times are relative so get a meat thermometer to make sure you always braai your meat to the correct internal temperature. Beef 52°C Medium Rare | Lamb 63°C Medium Rare | Pork 71°C Medium | Chicken 77°C Done
