Dereck Boltman, manager of the Food Lovers Market situated in Pretoria North, tells us that his store is a very proud supported of the Luvuyo Children’s Home in Soshanguve, Gauteng. This home, which provides a safe refuge for orphaned and vulnerable children, has been operating for 19 years. There are currently 77 youngsters, from little tots to teenagers, who call Luvuyo their home. Dereck’s team supply fresh fruit and vegetables to Luvuyo to make sure that the children have access to good healthy food and that the homes’ limited funds can be used to meet other desperate needs. Mapule, the assistant manager of the home told us “Your (FOOD LOVERS MARKET’S) generosity made an immediate difference in the lives of the children and the Centre as a whole, your donations feed a large number of children and it helped to strengthen their concentration”
Dereck says “It’s a great honour that my colleagues and I are able to give back to the community. It’s a small step to building a kind and mutually beneficial relationship with Luvuyo.”
